RALPH “Butch” A. DIFONZO, JR.

Ralph’s career with the Federal Bureau of Investigation spanned over thirty (30) years which included his assignments to Washington, D.C. Identification Division, Salt Lake City, Utah, Los Angeles, CA and New Haven, CT. Field Offices.   In Los Angeles, Ralph worked on the Major Case Violent Crime Squad that had jurisdiction over major felonies, involving violent acts such as homicides, kidnappings, high-profile fugitives, extortion, airplane hijackings, celebrity stalkings; other federal violations.

Ralph was honored as the first FBI Agent recipient of a Resolution from the State of California, and specifically from the City of Los Angeles which cited, among other distinguished service awards, numerous commendations from the Los Angeles Police Department regarding successful apprehensions of high-profile fugitives.  This Congratulatory Resolution was presented to Ralph and signed by then-mayor of Los Angeles, Tom Bradley; et al.

Following a transfer, Ralph parlayed his Los Angeles experience to New Haven, Connecticut, where he was tasked to initiate and eventually supervise a Safe Streets Violent Crimes Fugitive Task Force.  These Task Forces, consisting of Federal, State and Local authorities and headed by the FBI, were created to target long-term pro-active measures to combat violent gangs, crimes of violence and the apprehension of violent fugitives.  

The FBI Academy, Quantico, Virginia honored Ralph as a Certified FBI Master Police Instructor.

Ralph was a member of the FBI S.W.A.T. Team, a Crisis Negotiator and a Crisis Management Field Coordinator. Working in conjunction with the FBI Academy’s Critical Incident Response Group, National Center for the Analysis of Violent Crimes (NCAVC), Ralph developed profiles on unknown perpetrators of crimes to include homicides; sexual assaults; other violent crimes.

As a Crisis Negotiation Coordinator for the FBI, Ralph taught and continues to teach FBI-Certified Instructor courses which includes school/workplace violence and hostage survival; Crisis Negotiation; sharing his experience in defusing hostage and non-hostage situations.  He furnished Crisis Negotiation training to police departments throughout New England.

Ralph effectively applies his experience in developing instructional courses for school/workplace violence and hostage survival.  Ralph educated hundreds of health and academia professionals regarding detection and prevention of violence, and taught Crisis Negotiation to schools and businesses. 

Ralph consulted with State Governments and private firms conducting audits and assessments in the States of Connecticut and Delaware. He also managed internal investigations for school districts and the Department of Education where he headed internal/private investigations.  Upon requests from Conflict Resolution attorneys, Ralph conducted Behavioral Analysis Assessments on violent criminals in custody.  

Today Ralph serves as a Team Adam Consultant for the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children supporting police departments nationwide to assist their endeavors in solving ongoing crimes against children, as well as Cold Case Analysis.   Ralph also assists the Collier County Sheriff’s Office, Naples, Florida working Missing Persons-Cold Cases.
